Dollars and Sense

October 4th, 2009

One of the most popular questions I get about ScanLister is:

“How much money can I make selling used books?”

The answer is: It Depends…

Not the answer many want to hear, but it is true.  There are so many factors that affect the amount of sales and revenue that this business can produce.  Some books are very common and can be purchased just about anywhere.  These may sell for as little as a dollar.  Other books can be quite rare, and even though there may not be many buyers out there, the can sell for as much as $100!

I have spoken to many Half.com sellers and they all have learned by experience. There simply is no substitute for the lessons learned by selling a wide variety of items.

Books are a great seller, but don’t forget about CDs, DVDs, VHS Tapes and Video Games.  List them all and see what sells.  I think you may be pleasantly surprised at what sells and what doesn’t.  Video games are an excellent seller.  The market for used video games is on fire, and I challenge you to find a household with kids that doesn’t have a large supply of video games that the kids no longer play.

Selling these items at profits of $3, $5, $7 and $10 may not seem like much, but consider how little time it takes to list them for sale with ScanLister.  Those dollars add up quick!  Before you know it, your account can build up to $50, $100 and up, creating a second income without ever having to leave your home.

Introducing ScanLister!

September 12th, 2009

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the new blog.  Here is where I will keep you informed on what’s new with ScanLister and the business in general.  Be sure to check in frequently as I will be looking for feature requests as we get the second version of the software ready for release.

Right now, the next version will include direct to Ebay listings and Amazon.com inventory uploads.

I will also be posting news and tips for getting the most out of Half.com, Ebay and other home-based business opportunities.  I always welcome your feedback, either directly through the blog or via email.

Have a great weekend!
